GRASSE, FRANCE: INSIDE FRAGRANCE PRODUCTION
Our team recently visited the perfume factory in Grasse, France, to see STRATA® fragrances in their final stages of production. The visit marked a significant step toward our first fragrance release and an entirely new category for the brand.
Set in the hills above the French Riviera, Grasse has helped shape perfumery for centuries. Its expertise spans the cultivation of fragrant plants, the processing of raw materials, and the composition of scent. In 2018, UNESCO recognized these connected skills as part of humanity’s intangible cultural heritage.
The region’s relationship with fragrance began partly through leather. By the sixteenth century, local tanners were scenting their goods, helping establish the perfume-making practices that would become central to Grasse’s identity.
Today, that knowledge continues through the work of growers, distillers, and perfumers. It gives context to what happens inside the factory: the technical understanding and trained judgment behind a finished fragrance.
For our team, the visit was an opportunity to see our own fragrances nearing completion and spend time with the people bringing them into production. This first look brings the process into view ahead of the release.
